The Production Technician is the hands-on technical specialist behind every Hi Events production, responsible for the build, operation, and de-rig of AV, lighting, sound, and staging across live events. This role makes sure the technical experience matches the creative vision, delivering events that look, sound, and feel exactly as designed.
Lead the technical build on site, operate equipment during the live event, and work closely with suppliers and the wider delivery team. A successful Production Technician combines real craft across event tech with the calm professionalism to solve problems fast when something does not go to plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical build, rig, and de-rig of AV, lighting, sound, and staging
- Operation of technical equipment during live events
- Liaison with venue technical teams and external production suppliers
- Pre-event testing, programming, and prep
- Health and safety compliance on site
- Technical input into planning, run sheets, and supplier briefs

Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: Strong hands-on background in event production across AV, lighting, sound, or staging.Technical Skills: Confident operating industry-standard kit, with the ability to read a technical spec and build to it.Problem Solving: Quick to diagnose and fix technical issues calmly under live event pressure.Health & Safety: Sound working knowledge of event H&S, rigging standards, and risk assessment.Collaboration: Works closely with creative, delivery, and supplier teams to bring the vision to life on site.Tools: Comfortable with standard production software, control desks, and event tech platforms.Delivery: Reliable, unflappable, and professional in front of clients, guests, and venue staff.
